Spring is Here: Power, Purpose and Presence

Spring is Here: Power, Purpose and Presence

Spring has officially sprung, and ModelGear is blooming right alongside it! This season has already been full of bold fashion, powerful messages, and unforgettable moments on the runway. I’ve had the honor of walking in two impactful shows that set the tone for what’s shaping up to be a dynamic year in fashion and purpose.

Walk With Purpose

We kicked off with Walk With Purpose, a fashion experience produced by @BlackBusinessEnterprise — better known as BBE. This wasn’t just about showcasing garments — it was about spotlighting purpose-driven creatives and businesses through style, story, and soul.

The vibe was elevated by the beautiful and artistic Mirrored Glass Art of @m.a.i.v.e.n.a, the house artist of BBE. Her creations flowed through the space with energy and authenticity, creating a powerful soundtrack for a night of Black creativity, unity, and brilliance.

One of the featured designers was the strikingly original @afro_amazonia_wear, created by @mara_with_da_curls. Her designs commanded the runway with bold prints and symbolism. Each piece spoke of heritage and pride — fashion rooted in identity and expression.

Man Down: Heroes & Villains Vol. 4

Next came a show that truly hit home: Man Down: Heroes and Villains Volume 4, a compelling menswear fashion production that centered on mental health in men — produced by the powerhouse team behind @ManDownMenswearFashionShow.

Guided by the fearless vision of Gayle King, CEO and creative leader of the Man Down movement, this show went far beyond fashion. It was a call to awareness, healing, and emotional freedom. Each model represented a different part of the male mental health journey — from silent struggle to powerful transformation.

It was an honor to walk this show, not just as a model but as a witness to storytelling through wardrobe, strength in vulnerability, and the fusion of style and purpose.

Wakanda-Inspired Royalty by Ndara Jewels

Another standout moment this spring was the breathtaking, King T’Challa–inspired collection by @ndarajewels, designed by the radiant Ms. Gogo Ndara. Her showcase fused regal elegance with Afrofuturistic flair — a tribute to the spirit of Wakanda and the legacy of leadership, strength, and Black royalty.

From bold prints and accessories to dramatic silhouettes that honored tradition and revolution, her collection was a love letter to culture and power. Walking in her designs felt like embodying a legacy. Gogo’s eye for detail, symbolism, and unapologetic flair makes her a force in this fashion era.
